Jalyx Hunt's athletic journey began on the tracks and fields of Florida. As a young athlete, he excelled in triathlon and long jump, even winning AAU championships at the Junior Olympic Games in 2011. He later transitioned to football, showcasing his versatility as a wide receiver, basketball player, and track standout at University High School. There, he earned all-county honors and led the team in receiving yards.

Hunt's collegiate career began at Cornell University, where he initially played safety. After three seasons with the Big Red, including a COVID-19-cancelled year, he sought a new challenge. In 2022, he transferred to the Houston Christian Huskies (formerly Houston Baptist). This move proved pivotal.

At Houston Christian, Hunt shifted to the defensive line, unleashing his athletic potential. He quickly became a force to be reckoned with, leading the Southland Conference in tackles-for-loss and forced fumbles, while tying for the lead in sacks. His impressive performance earned him second-team All-Southland Conference honors.

Building on his success, Hunt dominated in 2023. He was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year and an All-American, racking up 133 tackles, 20.5 tackles-for-loss, and 13.5 sacks over two seasons with the Huskies. He also made history by becoming the first Houston Christian player ever invited to the prestigious Senior Bowl.
